“I got to use so many new colors in my paintings,” she said. “In Virginia in the summertime, it is very easy to get ‘green disease.’ There is such a temptation to paint everything green. There is a fine line between painting what’s out there and being creative and pushing your color.
“I was very tempted to stay in Santa Fe,” she continued. “You have access to so many people doing so much work."
Although she loves the country and the beauty that surrounds her, she finds being an artist in that locale can be isolating.
“There are a lot of artists working in Rappahanock County, but we don’t have easy access to each other,” she said. “It’s good to see what kinds of things other people are doing.”
