shines in Latin
Washington, Va. resident Welby Lynn, daughter of Pamela Lynn, was honored at a recent assembly at Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly for outstanding performance at the National Junior Classical League Convention held in August at Emory University in Georgia.
Welby, an eighth grader at Wakefield Country Day, received first place for her model of a Roman villa, fourth place for a pencil drawing - grades 6-8, fifth for Roman history test - level one, sixth for Roman life test - level one, seventh for pentathlon - level one, eighth for Greek derivatives - level one, and tenth for Latin reading comprehension - level one. '
Over 1,500 students from around the country attended the convention and competed for the awards.
The academic tests consisted of 100 multiple-choice questions.
