“Why do you need a limit?” Ms. Harris asked.
Town treasurer Brad Fisher said, “I don’t think it would be prudent for any council to give an open ended commitment and lock other councils in.”
Mr. Reynolds said the council, besides specifying the length of the permit, could require that it not be a spray irrigation system, that it be screened from the neighbors, and that it be abandoned if sewer becomes available.
Ms. Harris agreed to specify they would use the multi-flow system, and the council decided to wait until next month to act on the application so members could try to find out more about the system.
The Town Council also voted to remove the recycling bins at the site of the town well. Sid Berry, the county landowner who sold the town the land for the well, said the sale had been contingent on the town only using the property for a town well.
Mr. Gooch, who has been handling recycling for the town, said the program will have to be stopped unless a site for recycling containers can be found in or near town. He said it was taking most of a day once a month to get a truckload of recyclables to the county recycling center at the landfill, and it is becoming more and more difficult to fit all the town’s recycled trash in one truckload.
