Last November, the Region Six Literacy Coordinating Committee sponsored a Community Assessment Forum (CAF) attended by local officials from all the county offices, as well as by members of the public. The CAF met from noon to 5 p.m. at the Trinity Church parish house in Washington, Va., to consider how to address the needs of those in the county who have been less well educated, and the facilities presently available to assist in this effort.
With the leadership and cooperation of County Administrator John McCarthy, county officers have been referring students to LVA Rappahannock where appropriate. Several of the students are inmates at the County Jail.
