'What a
crock'
To the Editor:
I see by the papers than one of the supporters of George Allen, the Republican candidate for Congress from the 7th District, has said that “to get the federal budget under control we are going to have to elect moderate to conservative legislators such as George Allen to Congress.”
What kind of idiots does he think we are? Del. Allen has spent nine years in Richmond without noticeable effect on budgets or taxes.
His “conservative” leaders, Reagan and Bush, promised us in 19H0 that they would cut taxes, improve defense, and balance the budget. They cut taxes for the rich, threw money at defense, submitted a budget every single year that was hundreds of billions out of balance, and tripled the national debt.
Now we are asked to believe that young George Allen would arrive in Washington, announce that he is “moderate to conservative” and “get the federal budget under control.” What a crock!
