Sign-up is three times per month with locations posted in the Rappahannock News prior to sign-up. Delivery is made in the county at designated spots.
“It’s two hours monthly, minimum” Ms. McEvoy said of the needed hours of community service.
“Though we have received slips validating two to 12 hours per month,” she said, explaining when the hours are completed the receiver of the deed confirms the work by signing the slip.
“There are so many kinds of deeds you can do,” Ms. McEvoy said, adding “volunteerism is so terrific out here. People are probally participating and don’t know' it.”
Community serivce offers a broad spectrum of activites the person could chose from.
Ms. McEvoy explained one example of community service is a mother of five who worked with her children two hours a month to clean the roadway.
Picking up the trash is a community service while each child was given the pride and satisfaction in knowing they had helped with the overall grocery bill.
Community service includes those who volunteer to clean the church, help at church functions, carnivals, or community events, those who babysit without pay for a grandchild, nephew or neighbors child, those who mow their neighbor’s lawn, those who offer a ride to
