the front of the invitation. The response was so positive, both by those who saw the original and those who received an invitation, that the decision was made to raffle off the painting at the party.

“We did not commission Teresa with the idea of a raffle in mind,” said Mr. Welton. “But after we had several offers to purchase the painting, we thought it would be a good idea.”

Tickets will be sold for $1 each, with a book of six selling for $5. They are available through the Partnership for Warrenton’s project manager, Chris Wilson, and will also be sold the night of the event.

The painting for the invitation is also a divergence from Ms. Duke’s usual style which she describes as “loose realism.”

Currently her subject of preference is the landscape, though she also enjoys portraiture. She has recently returned from a trip to New Mexico where she , was stimulated by both the artists working there and
