Hertiberto Chavez, who began his career as a worker on the farm and who is now a master stone-mason, carefully matched each native stone of the wing with that of the original house so that one can’t tell the old from the new.

Contractor David Day added interesting touches as he exposed a stone entryway, added an office, guest room, bath, bedroom, dressing room and the closets all old houses need. He covered pipes with lovely wooden benches and retained a window with the original glass between the guest room and the formal living room in the original part of the house. The window not only lets in light but shows the thickness of the stone walls.
