As a participant in the National EdD Program for Educational Leaders, I attended NOVA Southeastern University’s Summer Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from July 13 through July 19. The topic of the institute was “School and Community: Roots for Democracy.”
The challenge to the participants of the summer institute was delivered by former governor of New York, Mario Cuomo He stressed the importance of educators and communities working together to build a shared vision for their schools. Cuomo felt a collaborative effort was imperative due to the constant changes demographically, politically, religiously and economically.
