He became a member of the Berean Baptist Church, Mt. Salem at an early age and when that church merged with the First Baptist Church in Washington, Va. he became a member there.
When he moved to Washington, D.C. from Philadelphia he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Deanwood where he served as Chairman of the Board of Christian Education and a trustee.
After retirement and moving back to Virginia, he continued his membership with the First Baptist Church of Washington, where he was ordained as deacon in 1974 under the pastorship of Rev.
