“The- point is to catch these problems before they become too serious,” said North. “If you can identify things early and treat them early, people stand a much better chance of going on with life without problems.”
Alive and Kicking involves many people from the hospital and health care community. Physicians, hospital employees and other health-related practitioners volunteer their time to offer the health fair to the community.
“It’s kind of our gift to the community,” said North. “The hospital’s mission really is to improve the health of the community, and this is just one of the ways we do that.”
Alive and Kicking ends Sunday, Sept. 27 with a 5-kilometer run around Old Town Warrenton. Runners start at the Warrenton Visitor Center on Keith Street at 8 a.m., and wind through the streets, of Warrenton with a police escort. Several hundred runners typically turn out for the run each year.
There are trophies for the winners in each age and sex category, plus awards for the overall male and female winners.
