VDOT? No,

VDON’T!

The Virginia Department of

Transportation is proposing radical changes for the intersection of U.S. 211 and 522 in Sperryville.

Claiming there is “major backup” on U.S. 211 from cars waiting to make the turn at the Exxon station, VDOT plans to double the width of the road and add turn lanes to ease this supposed “congestion”. If this project proceeds it will only increase the speed of traffic through that area, make it easier for long-haul trucks to use our roads, and necessitate further changes that will eventually destroy the character of our county.

There is a “no build” option for this project. It is important that all residents attend the public hearing this Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at the high school and voice their concerns. Citizen outcry shelved the proposed Sperryville bypass and we can do it again. Don’t let VDOT determine the future of our county.
