The relationship with the teachers is closer in Denmark, said Kristenen, who is use to calling her teachers by their first names. Menze said she finds the American teachers much friendlier than German teachers. Both girls said their schools had about 600 students, but included kindergarten through 12 grade.
Both Kristensen and Menze had six or seven years of English in school and speak it well. They said the most difficult part of the academic study is reading the history book. There are words they have never seen, they said.
