It is appropriate to wondert why our elected legislators, j including Katzen, have stood • by and allowed such appalling permissiveness on the part of 1 Allen’s administration.
He attempted (and fortunately failed) to win support for a bill aimed at creating legalistic obstacles for groups or individuals wishing to give land for parks and natural areas (or open space easements) to the Commonwealth.
Such actions do little to mitigate Virginia’s ranking as 39th in the nation in its legal protection of biological diversity. I
Asciolla, who has served j this region well as a member ^ of the Fauquier County School Board, has stepped up to the plate, offering to serve our region as their elected delegate. In doing so, he has been forthright in expressing a sincere commitment to making this region the best it can be, environmentally as well as economically. It could be the best favor we could do for ourselves and our region to give him that opportunity.
